Spotify launched earlier this year the new “Sleep Timer” feature, which stops the music playback after a specific time, but it was only available for the Android version of the app at the time. Starting today, Spotify for iOS will get access to the same functionality.

Sleep Timer For Spotify Apps

It’s quite simple to set up the Sleep Timer on Spotify. Just open the Now Playing screen while listening to songs, tap the three dots in the upper right corner, and then choose the “Sleep Timer”. Spotify’s sleep timer settings work for both podcasts and music, but only on Android (as of when we published this article). Many podcast apps now include sleep timer features that.

With that feature, users can go to bed listening to their favorite songs and playlists without having to worry about pausing it before falling asleep. And now, iPhone and iPad users can also set a timer to stop playback automatically with the latest Spotify app update for iOS.

It’s quite simple to set up the Sleep Timer on Spotify. Just open the Now Playing screen while listening to songs, tap the three dots in the upper right corner, and then choose the “Sleep Timer” option. You can set the timer between 5 minutes and 1 hour.

Spotify told Engadget that the feature will be available worldwide to all users as of today, but it may take some time for the update to appear in the App Store for everyone.

If you’re an Apple Music subscriber, you can enable a similar feature. However, unlike Spotify, the playback timer must be set in the native Clock app on iPhone and iPad with the “Stop Playing” option in the “When Timer Ends” menu.

Spotify Sleep Timer on Android

In the meantime, Spotify has integrated the function into the Android app. The detour via additional apps like Sleep Timer (music off) is no longer necessary. However, here you will find other practical functions such as extending the sleep time by shaking the device.

● Open Spotify and start the desired song.

● Tap the button with the three dots in the upper right corner.

● Scroll down and you will find the option 'Sleeptimer'.

● You can then select the desired time period.

● You can stop playback after the selected time or after the current song.

● Spotify will then automatically stop playback at the desired time.

Spotify Sleep Timer on iOS

On the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, you don't need an additional application. Apple has already integrated a Sleep Timer, but it is a bit hidden:

● First open the 'Clock' app.

● Switch to the 'Timer' category below.

● Tap on 'Timer end' in the middle.

● Activate the 'Stop playback' option at the bottom.

● Tap on 'Set' in the upper right corner.

● Now select the desired time and tap the 'Start' button.

● As soon as the timer has expired, the music in Spotify is stopped.

There is also no timer function integrated in the Spotify software for Windows. But here, too, there are several possibilities.

● The easiest way to do this is with an additional program. SleepTimer Ultimate simply shuts down your computer after the desired time.

● Alternatively, you can do without software and give Windows the command itself.
